Director of Community Impact

Job Title: Director of Community Impact

Reports To: Executive Director

Status: Full-Time 40 hours/week

Summary

Advoz, a leading provider of conflict resolution services (mediation, restorative practices, circle dialogues, and training) in Pennsylvania, seeks an organized, compassionate, and experienced professional to fill the key role of Director of Community Impact. The right candidate will possess at least two years of professional human services experience or equivalent, have developed organized and detailed-oriented work practices, have effectively worked with volunteers, and demonstrated a commitment to conflict resolution and the power it has in the community. The position has an opportunity to coordinate and train both school-aged individuals and adults while working directly to witness the impact of a growing program that transforms conflict into conversation across locations, demographics, and age groups.

Essential Responsibilities Include:

Training Implementation and Support (50% of weekly hours)

Program Delivery: In consultation with the Director of Training, work with volunteers and staff to ensure planning, preparation, coordination, implementation and evaluation of open and contracted trainings.

I. Coordinate training deliveries in conjunction with Training Director, involved staff and Training-Facilitator Volunteers.

II. Prepare training teams with up-to-date templates and training resources, e.g., design, manual, slides, supplies.

III. Build and maintain project management systems to track training projects and task assignments.

IV. Observe, facilitate, model, assist delivery and evaluate training units with co-facilitators.

V. Maintain, compile and summarize training participation and evaluation feedback.

VI. Track and order supplies, manuals, food, and other training resources.

Program Communications: Write, design, publish and make personal contacts to promote and recruit participants and prospective volunteers for open trainings through web, social media and print media.

I. Write marketing copy for various trainings gear toward participation.

II. Publish public trainings in traditional and social media and through Advoz networks.

Program Development: in consultation with the Director of Training:

I. Develop tailored curriculum for clients and new Advoz courses.

II. Compile and update Training Spaces directory of partner spaces,

III. Track follow up with trainers and participants and their respective Advoz involvement.

IV. Track trainer competencies and development.

V. Maintain training calendar.

VI. Identify, participate and involve Advoz team in relevant training community and professional development opportunities.

Mentoring: Recruit and encourage skill development of current and prospective Advoz trainers.

I. Support development of new trainer-facilitators by identify their strengths and providing them with support resources,

Other areas as identified by the Director of Training and Strategic Initiatives

II. Restorative Schools Program (25% of weekly hours)

A. Through consultation and listening, maintain a clear understanding of partner schools’ goals and vision for the project.

B. Manage all project deliverables, including but not limited to, training planning and delivery, facilitator coordination, and resource development.

C. Maintain accurate documentation of grant funding allocations.

D. Pursue new opportunities to advance school partnerships, in collaboration with the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Training and Director of Restorative Practices.

III. Community Marketing and Promotion (25% of weekly hours)

A. Produce and oversee mailing disseminate quarterly newsletters and the Annual Report;

B. Produce updates to stakeholders and donors as needed utilizing video and email platforms

C. Regularly update Advoz social media channels.

D. Produce video updates/testimonials for our annual event, ExtraGive, and other fundraising/donor communication initiatives on the work of Advoz in the community.

E. Other promotional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Commitment to restorative justice and agreement to a code of ethics and statement of confidentiality;
  • Possess 2+ years of professional human services experience or equivalent;
  • Bachelor’s degree, equivalent, or higher in a related field;
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Access and Excel, and able to produce database queries/reports;
  • Be able to facilitate restorative justice practices, especially Victim-Offender Conferences;
  • Experience working with volunteers and/or interns in a professional capacity;
  • Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills;
  • Be able to multi-task, work independently and in a team;
  • Be able to coach student interns and/or volunteers handling and facilitating cases.

– Microsoft Word for Outreach Writing
– Database for Volunteer Management, Tracking

Preferred Experience

  • Education or experience in restorative practices, human services and/or restorative/criminal justice
  • Professional and/or volunteer experience in Lancaster County
  • Experience in delivering training to groups of different ages.
  • Multi-lingual language proficiency
  • A valid driver’s license and occasional use of a personal vehicle

Work occurs primarily during office hours in downtown Lancaster, PA (8:30 am – 4:30 pm) with expectation of occasional weekend and evening meetings with clients, volunteers and/or special events. Work is primarily sedentary in nature, with occasional requests to travel within Lancaster County and lift up to 40 lbs. Pay: $45,000.00 – $47,500.00 per year

Case Manager of Restorative Practices

Job Title: Case Manager of Restorative Practices

 

Reports To: Director of Restorative Practices

Status: Full-Time 40 hours/week

Summary

Advoz, a leading provider of restorative justice and conflict services in Pennsylvania, seeks an organized, compassionate, and passionate individual to fill the key role of Restorative Practices Case Manager. The right candidate will have developed organized and detailed-oriented work practices, have effectively worked with volunteers, and demonstrate a practical/theoretical understanding of restorative justice values and practices. The position has an opportunity to coordinate and witness the impact of a pioneering program that restores relationships with hundreds involved in crime and violations each year.

Essential Responsibilities Include:

I. Program Coordination & Case Management (Victim-Offender Conferencing and Making Peace)

  • Complete the in-take, processing and closingof referrals.
  • Contact referred parties to prepare and gauge readiness before assignment to a facilitator.
  • Prepare and assign cases to volunteer facilitators on a timely basis.
  • Support and encourage volunteer facilitators as they work on each case or workshop.
  • Assist directly with specific, challenging Victim-Offender Conferences.
  • Coordinate venue rentals and preparation for meetings and training.
  • Take on personal cases/workshops if there is a backlog beyond the volunteer capacity.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly program reports with analysis and evaluative comments.
  • Assist with the programmatic volunteer training.
  • Assist with (and participate in if needed) circle processes that result from a conference.
  • Assist with the oversight of restorative justice interns
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date program and training documents.

II. Program Outreach & Administration

  • Attend conferences, workshops, seminars, and meetings to learn about and represent the unique needs of crime victims and offenders in using facilitated dialogue.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with the Department of Juvenile Probation, Youth Aid Panel, Victim/Witness Services and other referral agency representatives.
  • Help build an increasingly diverse group of volunteers.
  • Help develop and maintain new referral partnerships.
  • Participate in and provide input for quarterly, half-yearly, and yearly oversight reports for the restorative justice program.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Spanish language proficiency 
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with a strong orientation to deadlines.
  • An understanding of the principles and restorative justice values
  • Experience working with volunteers and/or mentoring in a professional capacity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in administration/human services
  • Professional, volunteer, or lived experience in Lancaster County
  • A valid driver’s license and occasional use of a personal vehicle
  • Bachelor’s degree, equivalent, or higher in a related field is a benefit but not required.
